Rare opportunity for a talented and motivated accountant to join a rapidly growing SME based in the Bristol area.

Our client is passionate about their business, which has grown out from a small company serving the local community to a dominant force in their industry with customers around the world. As they continue to grow and innovate, they've recently moved their accountancy function in-house and created this role to lead the finance function.

This is an exciting opportunity to work across operational, tactical and strategic levels of an entrepreneurial business. As well as working with the Senior Management Team to shape the future of the organisation, the successful candidate will be responsible for the essential day to day accounting tasks. For the moment, you'll be the sole finance professional and it's essential that you're willing to roll up your sleeves and work hard.

This role would suit someone looking for a part-time role, but can possibly flex to a full-time role. Salary is £60K pro rata, and the role may require occasional travel. Post-Covid this role will continue to allow a mix of home working and office working.

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting the business in a period of growth, including preparing financial models
  • Produce monthly management accounts
  • Preparing forecasts, records, year-end analysis, and statements for the management team
  • Produce insight reports on a regular basis, including analysis and narrative
  • Ensure reporting requirements are met for external funding
  • Coordinate internal and external audits

The role will also include the following routine duties:

  • Preparing invoices, bills, and accounts payable and receivable
  • Purchase orders and bank reconciliations
  • Manage company ledgers
  • Verify balances and rectify discrepancies
  • Post daily receipts and verify bank deposits
  • Record expenditures and process expenses
  • Manage debtors and creditors
  • Accruals and prepayments
  • Supporting team on monthly stock takes

Role requirements:

  • Finance qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
  • Relevant experience in the areas outlined above
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Accounting software
  • Experience with online accounting, specifically Xero and Quickbooks, as well as ecommerce platforms such as Shopify
